Hello, everyone! I promised you I was going to stay busy this month editing and releasing episodes, and I think I've lived up to that promise so far. Two weeks ago, we released Episode 8: Jessica Nastal. Last week, we released Episode 9: Beverly J. Moss. And now, we're about to release a new Pedagogue Bonus episode:
Pedagogue Bonus: Advice on Publishing (w/Lori Ostergaard) Lori is the editor of WPA: Writing Program Administration, one of the leading journals in writing studies. In this bonus episode, Lori talks about how to identify a journal for your article, why writers should carefully consider their introductions, she provides insight on the peer review process, and shares tips for writing a successful article. I'm excited to release this bonus episode because you voted on it on Twitter! Thanks for following along, listening, and engaging and circulating episodes. I received a handful of positive posts, tweets, and kind words this week that made me feel special about this work and the possible impact it has on people. It really encouraged me and gave me some hope. So thank you. Yours, -S In this episode, Beverly J. Moss talks about her research in African American churches and communities, how she embraces community literacies in teaching, and what it means to teach writing as an African American woman in a predominately white space.
Listen on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Spotify, or Stitcher Hi! I'm releasing another (full!) new episode this week. You can always listen to last week's episode (Episode 8: Jessica Nastal) here. This week, I talk with Beverly J. Moss, a teacher and scholar who expands the classroom, who inquires and investigates writing practices through ethnographies, and who focuses on community literacies. It's a great episode for teachers interested in community engagement and community literacies. We also talk about race. In the last 7-8 minutes of the episode, Beverly opens up and shares what it looks like and means to occupy a predominately white space. That segment is one of my favorites from any episode. I would really encourage everyone to listen to it.
Episode 9: Beverly J. Moss In this episode, Beverly J. Moss talks about her research in African American churches and communities, how she embraces community literacies in teaching, and what it means to teach writing as an African American woman in a predominately white space. Yours, -S In this episode, Jessica Nastal talks about her approach to teaching writing at a two-year college, her transition from a public research university in the deep South to a community college in the south suburbs of Chicago, and her research on writing placement.
Listen on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Spotify, or Stitcher Hi! As promised, I'm going to release more episodes than normal this month. Episode 8 is going to be released this Friday, 10/11!
Episode 8: Jessica Nastal In this episode, Jessica Nastal talks about her approach to teaching writing at a two-year college, her transition from a public research university in the deep South to a community college in the south suburbs of Chicago, and her research on writing placement. Stay tuned! Thankful, -S Hi, everyone! October is here. And it's my favorite time. Fall weather, colorful leaves, fall break, warm food and fall drinks, my anniversary (Oct. 1st), my birthday (Oct. 9th), Halloween, and more. Because I love October so much, I'm going to release more episodes than normal this month. So how about two full episodes and a bonus episode? What do you think?
I need your help on the bonus episode, though. Right now, I'm stuck between releasing a bonus episode on applying to grad programs or a bonus episode on strategies for publishing a journal article. So I'm asking you to go vote on Twitter: @_Pedagogue_. If you click on the hyperlink, it will take you to the poll. This is going to be a really good month, so stay tuned for news, updates, and episodes. You can always follow the RSS feed on the blog for the most up-to-date information. You can also click the +subscribe button and get episodes right away on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Spotify, or Stitcher Happy fall, -S |
